A Saudi Arabian flag carrier airline, Saudia Airlines, experienced an emergency situation at Peshawar International Airport due to a fire panic during the landing of a Riyadh-Peshawar flight. All 276 passengers and 21 crew members were safely evacuated using emergency slides. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Airline’s Statement

In a statement from the airline, it was reported that the plane, which took off from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, had smoke emanating from one of its tires during its landing at Peshawar International Airport in Pakistan. The plane was immediately stopped, and 276 passengers and 21 crew members safely exited the aircraft using the emergency slides. The plane has been taken for technical inspection.

Videos shared on social media showed passengers rapidly exiting the plane via emergency slides and fire trucks attending to the aircraft. It was learned that air traffic controllers noticed the fire and smoke in the landing gear and alerted the pilots and fire crews.

The fact that no one was injured during the evacuation provided great relief. Technical inspections carried out on the aircraft are crucial to determine the cause of the fire and to prevent similar incidents in the future.
