Baykar’s K2 Kamikaze UAV Successfully Completes Smart Swarm Tests
The K2 Kamikaze Unmanned Aerial Vehicle developed indigenously and originally by Baykar successfully completed formation flights involving five aircraft in smart swarm tests carried out with advanced artificial intelligence and autonomy algorithms.
Baykar’s K2 Kamikaze UAV Takes the Stage in Smart Swarm Tests
The K2 Kamikaze Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), developed by Baykar with its own resources, drew attention with tests demonstrating its autonomy, artificial intelligence and multi-operation capabilities. Equipped with advanced algorithms, the platform delivered a successful performance in flight tests conducted over two days with the participation of five K2 UAVs.

Formation Flight Over the Saros Gulf
The tests were carried out with multiple flight scenarios performed over the Saros Gulf by K2 Kamikaze UAVs that took off from the Keşan Flight Training and Test Center.
The swarm consisting of five aircraft successfully executed “right echelon”, “line” and “V” formation flights. In the test scenarios, the platforms automatically determined their positions within the swarm thanks to artificial intelligence-supported sensors and software and carried out their missions without error.
It was also reported that the K2 platform can implement different formation patterns such as “Turan” and “wall”.

Artificial Intelligence-Supported Swarm Synergy
Operating with artificial intelligence-supported swarm synergy, the K2 Kamikaze UAV introduces a new approach to kamikaze platforms defined in the literature as “expendable”.
In the next phase of R&D studies, it is planned to develop versions that can return to base and be reused after delivering their munitions to the target.
Capable of Operating in Electronic Warfare Environments
The navigation architecture of the K2 Kamikaze UAV has been designed to operate in electronic warfare environments where global positioning systems (GNSS) are unavailable or under heavy jamming.
The platform can estimate its position by visually scanning the ground with a gimbal camera and a night-vision capable camera system located under the fuselage. Thus, it can autonomously proceed to the target even in environments where GNSS signals are not available.
Visual Lock and Precision Strike Capability
The EO/IR gimbal camera system on the platform provides reconnaissance and surveillance capability while also enabling targets to be struck with high precision through its visual lock feature.
K2 also possesses capabilities that increase operational flexibility, including coordinate-based precision strike, line-of-sight (LOS) and beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS) satellite data link.

One of the Largest Kamikaze UAVs in Its Class
With a maximum take-off weight of 800 kilograms, the K2 Kamikaze UAV is designed for long-range strategic missions with its munition capable of carrying a 200-kilogram warhead, a range exceeding 2,000 kilometres, a speed of over 200 kilometres per hour and an endurance of more than 13 hours.
Its capability to take off and land from short runways provides the platform with significant logistical flexibility in the field.
