Police Detain Passenger

The TUI aircraft made an unscheduled landing at Newcastle International Airport. Police boarded the plane and detained the drunken passenger who allegedly assaulted the cabin crew. The passenger’s girlfriend also had to leave the plane.

Five-Hour Delay and Passenger Inconvenience

The flight, carrying around 200 passengers, reached Antalya with a five-hour delay due to the incident. A passenger on board reported that the drunken individual had caused trouble even before boarding and verbally abused the flight attendants. Shortly after takeoff, an announcement was made, informing passengers that the plane would divert to Newcastle for a safe emergency landing.

TUI’s Statement and Compensation Offer

A TUI spokesperson emphasized that the safety of customers and crew is their top priority, and they will not tolerate any unacceptable behavior. The airline offered holiday vouchers to passengers as a goodwill gesture for the unexpected disruption to their holiday plans.
