Fokker-100 passenger plane on a Tehran-Tabriz flight made an emergency landing in Ardabil due to a technical fault. Mohammad Kasabi, General Director of Ardabil Province Airports, stated that the plane was diverted to Ardabil due to the technical issue. Four passengers received on-site treatment for nausea, headache, and ear pain.
U.S. sanctions against Iran have adversely affected the civil aviation sector, making it difficult to renew the aging aircraft fleet. The aircraft that made the emergency landing was identified as a Fokker-100 operated by Iran Air. However, the unilateral U.S. sanctions have created significant challenges in importing aircraft parts, leading to occasional technical faults and incidents in flights within the country.
The Ardabil University of Medical Sciences reported that following the incident notification, seven ambulances and one ambulance bus were dispatched to the scene, and hospitals were put on alert. No fatalities occurred, and the four passengers who experienced severe nausea, headache, and ear pain were treated on-site.
