Cargo Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Istanbul Airport

This morning at Istanbul Airport, a cargo plane faced an emergency situation and had to make a landing on its fuselage. The incident occurred around 08:30, where for reasons yet to be determined, the landing gear of the cargo plane did not deploy, forcing the aircraft to prepare for an emergency landing.

Health and firefighting teams were quickly dispatched to the scene. Fortunately, there were no fatalities or injuries reported as a result of the incident. Airport authorities stated that the emergency landing of the cargo plane did not adversely affect airport flight traffic.

During the critical moments of the incident, although a detailed investigation has not yet been conducted, it was noted that due to the failure of the landing gear to deploy, the cargo plane faced an emergency situation. The pilots of the aircraft decided to make a landing on the fuselage to avoid a potential disaster.

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure made a statement regarding the cargo plane accident at Istanbul Airport. According to the ministry statement, the incident, which occurred today (May 8), involved a Boeing 763 cargo plane registered as N110FE belonging to Fedex Airlines, which did not deploy its nose landing gear due to hydraulic failure.

Upon being reported by the pilot at 07:55 local time, the aircraft landed on runway 16R with its nose landing gear retracted at 08:17 and remained on the runway. Following the landing, airport rescue and firefighting service (ARFF) teams intervened, and the runway was noted for safety.

While no fatalities or injuries were reported in the accident, it was stated that ministry experts have been assigned to initiate investigation and examination efforts into the incident.
