WestJet Cancels 27 US Routes: See Full List Of Affected Flights Now

WestJet is one of 11 passenger airlines flying between Canada and the US. In 2025, the US Department of Transportation (DOT) shows that WestJet transported 4.7 million round-trip passengers. Reflecting the political situation, network refocus, and a reduced number of routes, traffic fell by 15% compared to 2024.

The Canadian carrier’s full US network has been explored using Cirium Diio data. This examined what was available between January 2025 and July 2026, and compared that offering to what’s scheduled from August 2026 to April 2027. This process identified that 27 US routes have ended.

The airport pairs focused heavily on leisure markets and some involved flying on behalf of Delta Air Lines to some of that carrier’s core hubs. WestJet and Delta have a transborder strategic partnership, in which they codeshare, have frequent flyer reciprocity, and so on. Delta owns 12.7% of the Canadian carrier. Of course, this relationship does not mean that all routes will work.

Many of the markets were non-core. Several were virtually new; they only lasted for one season. Some were relatively long, in a transborder sense, and thus more expensive to operate. In the examined period, WestJet’s longest operation to the Lower 48 was from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Fort Lauderdale. This was one of eight routes from YVR to be removed.

In the peak summer of 2026, WestJet’s US flights from YVR are down by a considerable 46.6% year-over-year, against a 13.3% drop for the airline’s overall US service. Notice that only one of the eliminated routes was from the airline’s core hub of Calgary International Airport (YYC). WestJet’s YYC-US flights have been reduced by a modest 3.2%.

Month That Flights Ended (Served Sometime Jan. 2025-Jul. 2026, but not after Aug. 2026)

YVR to Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)

Until now, the carrier had no more than 93 daily services past the US border. Now it does. Find out more here!

Canada’s second-largest airline introduced this route, which covered 2,185 nautical miles (4,047 km) each way, on June 9, 2025. Flights began in the run-up to the peak summer with the highest demand and fares. Up to five weekly services were available on the Boeing 737-700, 737-800, and 737 MAX 8. The final departure was on October 13, 2025.

The airport pair has seen a reasonable amount of change. While Air Canada operated from its Pacific hub of YVR to BOS until 2005, no nonstop service on any airline was available for the next 11 years. Air Canada resumed service between 2017 and 2019 and, after a COVID-19-driven pause, returned again between 2022 and 2023.

JetBlue entered the fray a few months before Canada’s flag carrier pulled out, followed by WestJet in 2025. In 2026, only JetBlue operates. It will certainly be pleased to have the nonstop market for itself again, which should mean higher fares, yields, loads, and, therefore, better performance. Alas, JetBlue operates overnight to BOS, while WestJet flew during the day.

WestJet Barely Filled Have Of Seats On This Route

Occasionally, airport pairs that have not previously had any scheduled flights suddenly see two carriers. This is, of course, for competitive reasons. Examples abound, and include YVR to TPA. Until last year, everyone had to fly via a hub en route.

WestJet served this market between June 14 and October 25, 2025, with a Saturday-only operation. Flights that exclusively run on that day of the week are becoming increasingly popular. Air Canada operated for slightly longer: from June 3 to November 4, 2025.

The market went from zero capacity to nearly 21,000 round-trip seats for sale in no time. Neither airline did well. According to the DOT, WestJet’s load factor was only 54.2%, against 54.4% for Air Canada. The carriers exited as fast as they had arrived. No nonstop flights are available again.
