TUSAŞ Delivers Indigenous T70 Helicopter to Turkish Air Force
The locally-produced T70 General Purpose Helicopter, manufactured by TUSAŞ, was delivered to the Turkish Air Force in a ceremony. TUSAŞ General Manager Mehmet Demiroğlu stated, “With the ceremony held, we delivered our T70 General Purpose Helicopter to the Air Force Command. May it be beneficial for our country. With this latest delivery, we have reached a total of 100 helicopters delivered, including the T129 ATAK Helicopter. We will continue to contribute to our country’s defense industry by working day and night.”
TUSAŞ T70 Project
The T70 General Purpose Helicopter Project is carried out under the main contractorship of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) and the subcontractorship of Sikorsky, ASELSAN, TEI, and Alp Aviation. Developed based on Sikorsky Aircraft’s S70i Helicopter, the T70 is produced under license in Turkey, with a total of 109 units to be manufactured. These helicopters will be delivered to five different users, including the Land Forces Command, Air Force Command, Special Forces Command, General Command of Gendarmerie, General Directorate of Security, and General Directorate of Forestry.
Within the project scope, TUSAŞ is responsible for the production of all main parts such as the cabin, cockpit, tail cone, horizontal and vertical tail, main and tail rotor blades, as well as final assembly processes, testing, and integrated logistic support of the T70 helicopters. ASELSAN is tasked with the development and integration of basic avionics and, together with Sikorsky, the development of the helicopter cockpit (IMAS). TEI is responsible for the production of the T700 engine, while Alp Aviation handles the production and assembly of landing gear, gearbox detail parts, and dynamic parts.
