Turkish Airlines Resumes Nigeria Flights

Turkish Airlines (THY) announced that its flight operations in Lagos will resume on Saturday, May 25. THY had suspended its flights following disruptions in operations in the state four days earlier.

Measures Taken for Flight Safety

The airline stated that it had to cancel its planned flights to Lagos due to actions at its counter at Lagos Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Tuesday, May 21, which compromised flight safety. THY emphasized that they prioritize the safety and security of their passengers and crew, and announced that they will resume flights to Nigeria as they have done since 2006.

THY noted that the decision to resume operations was made after meetings with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN). The airline announced that they would continue to operate with the same diligence as long as the necessary measures taken by NCAA and FAAN ensure the safety of the flights, crew, THY Lagos personnel, and passengers at the airport.

THY recorded that NCAA and FAAN announced they would take additional security measures to prevent such incidents from recurring and that this decision was communicated to the public through a joint press release. THY also mentioned that the FAAN General Manager shared a written statement with them, committing to unprecedented measures to ensure the security of their operations.
