Jetstar Plane Veers Off Runway During Landing, Passengers Stranded

A Jetstar flight from Auckland to Christchurch encountered an unexpected situation on Friday morning after landing at Christchurch Airport. The aircraft, flight JQ225, veered off the runway and came to a stop on the grass due to an issue during landing.

Jetstar officials confirmed that the incident was caused by a problem with the plane’s steering system. The aircraft veered off the runway at low speed after landing in Christchurch due to a malfunction in the steering mechanism.

No passengers or crew members were injured as a result of the incident. The aircraft was towed to the gate as a safety precaution, and all passengers were safely evacuated.

Passengers were stranded in their seats for a while due to the unusual circumstances during landing. However, officials reported that all passengers were evacuated safely and that airport crews responded swiftly to the incident. Several flights at Christchurch Airport were delayed, and the runway was temporarily closed.

Witnesses described the panic moments as the aircraft came to rest on the grass and was subsequently surrounded by fire trucks. Passenger Diana Clement recounted the anxiety following the jolt, but noted that no one was injured. It was reported that a hydraulic leak on the right side of the plane caused it to veer off the runway.

Authorities announced that an investigation has been launched by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) following the incident. Jetstar stated that they would support the FAA’s investigation.
