Engine of a Boeing 737 Caught Fire in Mid-Air!
According to reports in the Indian press, the engine of a Malaysia Airlines Boeing 737 passenger aircraft, which departed from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad at 12:30 AM local time, caught fire shortly after takeoff while en route to Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia.
The flight, numbered “MH199” with 138 passengers on board, returned to the airport at 3:21 AM local time due to the engine fire. The passenger aircraft made a safe landing and was met by numerous fire and ambulance crews.
A video shared by a passenger on social media showed sparks coming from the aircraft’s engine while it was in the air.
In a statement by Malaysia Airlines, the incident was confirmed, and it was noted that all passengers were safely deplaned at the airport. It was also stated that an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
