Spanish airline Vueling has announced plans to start three weekly direct flights from Barcelona to Istanbul Airport beginning on October 29, 2024. This new route will make Vueling the only Spanish airline offering direct connections between Barcelona and Turkey’s largest city.
Initially, flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. However, starting March 30, 2025, the frequency will increase to seven flights per week, providing daily service to Istanbul.

Fleet Additions and Growth Plans
In the first half of 2024, Vueling is set to receive five Airbus A320ceo aircraft and plans to take delivery of 20 more by the end of the year. These deliveries will include the A321 XLR, which will be vital in supporting additional frequencies and new routes to secondary cities. The airline aims to expand its fleet further in 2025 by adding 27 new aircraft, including a Boeing 787.
Growing Passenger Numbers
Vueling is expected to carry approximately 18 million passengers in the first half of 2024. This reflects the airline’s ongoing growth in the European low-cost market and its commitment to enhancing connectivity between important destinations like Barcelona and Istanbul.
