A cargo plane belonging to Fedex Airlines made an emergency landing on its fuselage at Istanbul Airport due to the failure of its front landing gear to deploy. Following the incident, the aircraft briefly caught fire due to friction, but it was quickly brought under control by the airport’s emergency response teams. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries as a result of this accident.

The Crash, Rescue, and Firefighting (ARFF) team, along with the Istanbul Airport Rescue and Firefighting team, swiftly and effectively intervened in the incident at Istanbul Airport. Initially, the cargo on the aircraft was unloaded, and then with the assistance of towing vehicles, the cargo plane was safely removed from the runway.

Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu made a statement on social media after the incident, mentioning the successful removal of the cargo plane and the cleaning of the runway following the accident. He also expressed gratitude to the teams for their rapid and coordinated response, stating that it was fortunate that there were no casualties.

It was emphasized that from the moment the incident began, airport teams acted calmly and professionally. This response was highlighted as an exemplary performance in intervention and operation to prevent similar accidents and incidents.
