Breath-taking Shows by Turkish Air Force on its 113th Anniversary

The 113th anniversary of the Turkish Air Force was celebrated with spectacular air shows and meaningful events. The Ministry of National Defense crowned this special day with a celebration event held at the Istanbul Air Force Museum in Yeşilköy.

The event, kicked off by the Military Band of the National Defense University (MSU) Air Force Academy, was enlivened with a concert at 1:00 PM. Attendees had the opportunity to tour the museum, which features 60 aircraft that shed light on Turkish aviation history. Following this, a talk by combat pilot Air Captain Emrah Bayrı on Turkish aviation continued the event.

Bayrı emphasized that many heroes have become martyrs in the 113-year mission of the Turkish Air Force to protect the sacred skies of the homeland, saying, “Salute to the Commander of our War of Independence Army, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, our Great Leader Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.”

During the talk, information was shared about the history of the Turkish Air Force, school, and flight training. Bayrı also answered the question, “How to become a jet pilot?” which was eagerly asked by the young attendees. He explained that to become a jet pilot, they undergo a 15-month flight training followed by combat readiness training.

The most thrilling part of the event was the air shows performed by teams affiliated with the Turkish Air Force. “Super Mushshak,” “F-4,” and “F-16” aircraft from the 111th, 126th, and 193rd squadrons delivered an unforgettable performance over the museum, captivating the audience.

During the air show, the excitement peaked when citizens responded with “In the skies” to the “Future” call made by Air Pilot Colonel Rahmi Akgün, the Commander of the 111th Squadron in Eskişehir.
