Yak-130 type training aircraft belonging to the Bangladesh Air Force crashed due to a technical malfunction in the city of Chittagong, around 10:30 local time. Police officials stated that both pilots parachuted out of the plane when it caught fire. However, one pilot sustained severe injuries and succumbed to them at the hospital. The other pilot is still under medical care.
Following the incident, Bangladesh Air Force authorities initiated an investigation into the details of the technical malfunction that occurred on the aircraft. Technical teams and experts were dispatched to the scene to determine the cause of the crash.
The Bangladesh Ministry of Defence confirmed that the crashed aircraft was on a training flight and stated that the incident did not pose a threat to national security. Nevertheless, condolences were extended to the family of the deceased pilot.
Authorities in the city of Chittagong commenced efforts to remove the wreckage of the aircraft from the riverside and continue the investigation. Experts who arrived at the scene are working to examine the details of the incident and determine the cause of the crash, as well as the necessary precautions to be taken.
