Air Cairo is moving all of its Istanbul operations to iGA Istanbul Airport. A total of 11 weekly frequencies are planned on the Cairo, Sharm El-Sheikh and Hurghada routes.
Air Cairo has decided to operate all of its Istanbul operations through iGA Istanbul Airport. The company, which has started flights to Cairo, will reach 11 weekly frequencies by the end of 2026 with the launch of the Sharm El-Sheikh and Hurghada routes.
Air Cairo moves all Istanbul operations to iGA
Egyptian airline Air Cairo is moving all of its Istanbul operations to iGA Istanbul Airport following its first flight on July 23. As part of the strategic cooperation, the company will operate reciprocal flights to Cairo every day of the week, and by launching Sharm El-Sheikh flights on October 26 and Hurghada flights on December 26, 2026, it will serve with 11 weekly frequencies by the end of the year.
iGA Istanbul Airport, which has more than 110 airline partnerships internationally and offers access to more than 340 destinations, will host all of Air Cairo’s operations in Istanbul.
Cairo flights will operate every day of the week
Air Cairo operated its first flight to iGA Istanbul Airport on July 23. The company will operate reciprocal flights between Cairo and Istanbul every day of the week.
The airline, which is preparing to operate flights from Istanbul to three important destinations in Egypt, will launch the Sharm El-Sheikh route on October 26 and the Hurghada route as of December 26, 2026.
Air Cairo, which has started ticket sales for Cairo, Sharm El-Sheikh and Hurghada flights, is planned to reach a total of 11 weekly frequencies on its Istanbul routes by the end of 2026.
“Connections between Türkiye and Egypt will be strengthened”
iGA Istanbul Airport Deputy CEO Responsible for Commercial Affairs Server Aydın stated that the new cooperation will contribute to iGA’s position as a global transfer hub.
In his assessment, Aydın used the following statements:
“As iGA Istanbul Airport, we are reinforcing our leading role in global aviation day by day and continuously advancing our characteristic as the ‘World’s Meeting Point’ with new investments. In this context, it is very valuable that Air Cairo, the latest link in the strategy and determined activities we are carrying out, is moving all of its Istanbul operations to iGA Istanbul Airport.”
Aydın stated that the cooperation would also contribute to relations between the two countries and noted that air links between Türkiye and Egypt would be strengthened and tourism, trade and cultural exchange would be supported.
Air Cairo flies to more than 90 destinations
Founded in 2003, Air Cairo operates with an international flight network reaching more than 90 destinations. The company, a subsidiary of Egypt’s flag carrier EgyptAir, offers comfortable and budget-friendly travel options.
Air Cairo Chairman and CEO Hussein Sherif said that moving all Istanbul operations to iGA Istanbul Airport is an important milestone in terms of the company’s growth strategy.

Sherif said the following in his statement regarding the cooperation:
“Istanbul is one of the region’s most important aviation gateways, and the transfer of all Air Cairo operations to iGA Istanbul Airport represents an important milestone in our growth strategy and in our commitment to expanding our international network through partnerships with world-class airports.”
Sherif stated that the new operational arrangement would provide stronger connectivity, higher operational efficiency and an enhanced travel experience, and said that providing direct access to Cairo, Sharm El-Sheikh and Hurghada would strengthen the ties between Türkiye and Egypt.

Tourism opportunity for Red Sea destinations
Hussein Sherif stated that Air Cairo’s expanding flight network would complement the existing capacity in the Istanbul-Cairo market.
Noting that the new flights are expected to increase passenger traffic, Sherif said that the Sharm El-Sheikh and Hurghada flights would create new opportunities for tourism to Egypt’s Red Sea destinations.
iGA Istanbul Airport, meanwhile, continues to add airlines from different parts of the world to its flight network in order to offer its passengers more frequency, flexibility and price options.
