Turkish Airlines (THY), the airline that flies to the most countries worldwide, and Malta’s flag carrier, KM Malta Airlines, have signed a codeshare agreement to operate joint flights starting from June 15.
The agreement was signed at the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Dubai. This codeshare agreement will offer passengers of both airlines more flexible travel options on direct flights between Istanbul and Malta.
Details of the Agreement
Codeshare Arrangement: KM Malta Airlines will place its marketing flight numbers on Turkish Airlines’ Istanbul-Malta flights. This will allow Maltese passengers to benefit from THY’s extensive global network and increase the flow of visitors from Turkey to Malta.
Statements from THY General Manager Bilal Ekşi: THY General Manager Bilal Ekşi commented on the agreement, saying, “We are pleased that the codeshare agreement with KM Malta Airlines will strengthen cooperation between the two countries. This partnership not only allows Maltese passengers to benefit from THY’s extensive global network but also encourages more visitors from Malta to experience our unique country, Turkey. Likewise, the enchanting island nation of Malta will attract more visitors. We look forward to a successful and long-lasting collaboration,” he said.

Istanbul is a key hub that operates two daily flights to Malta, offering our Maltese customers a wide range of destinations. Additionally, it will provide enhanced connectivity options for our international passengers through Malta International Airport,” he said.
