Selçuk Bayraktar: “Türkiye Holds 65% of the Global UAV Market”
TEKNOFEST 2025, the world’s largest aviation, space, and technology festival, has kicked off at Istanbul Shipyard with the theme “Blue Homeland.” Baykar Chairman of the Board Selçuk Bayraktar, in his remarks during the festival, highlighted Türkiye’s leadership in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology and its achievements in the defence industry.
20 Years of Success Towards Full Independence
Bayraktar underlined the significant progress made in the defence industry over the past 20 years, stating:
“You can see our national torpedo. All of these achievements have been realised with the vision of the National Defence Industry, and they are highly significant on the path to full independence.”
Türkiye’s UAV Leadership
Bayraktar noted that Türkiye controls 65% of the global UAV market and 60% of the production and export market. He also shared that the company has exported UAVs to 37 countries so far, describing Baykar’s technology as “the world’s most advanced UAVs delivered in the most cost-effective way.”
Advanced Munitions and International Cooperation
Bayraktar emphasised that Türkiye’s UAVs offer a wide range of munitions, strengthening diplomatic relations with many countries. He also pointed out that electronic systems developed by Roketsan, ASELSAN, and TÜBİTAK further enhance the effectiveness of UAVs.
A New World with the TEKNOFEST Generation
Referring to the TEKNOFEST generation that invests in youth and technology, Bayraktar said:
“The TEKNOFEST generation will break the dominance imposed on us in all areas of technology and build a fully independent and prosperous world.”
He encouraged young people to take part in the festival, stressing that Türkiye’s achievements in aviation and technology will grow stronger with the new generations.
