Cancellation on London and Amman Routes: SunExpress Updates Summer Schedule

SunExpress cancelled some international flights for the 2026 summer season. Capacity reductions were made on European and Middle Eastern routes.

SunExpress, the joint venture of Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa, made significant changes to its flight planning for the 2026 summer season. While the company reduced capacity especially in international operations, some routes were completely removed from the schedule.

It was stated that the adjustments covered operations in the European and Middle Eastern markets, while the cancelled and frequency-reduced routes attracted attention.

Antalya – Amman and Bodrum – London Gatwick Routes Cancelled

Under the new planning, the twice-weekly operation on the Antalya – Amman route was completely cancelled as of May 3, 2026.

Meanwhile, the planned twice-weekly flight schedule on the Bodrum – London Gatwick route was also removed. It was learned that the route, previously announced to launch during the summer season, was withdrawn from the operational planning.

Frequency Reduction on Europe Routes Departing from Izmir

Some Europe routes departing from Izmir were also affected by SunExpress’ capacity adjustment.

Routes with Reduced Flight Frequencies

  • Izmir – Barcelona route: Reduced from 5 weekly flights to 4 weekly flights.
  • Izmir – Madrid route: Reduced from 3 weekly flights to 2 weekly flights.

It is considered that the company implemented the frequency reductions in line with demand balance and operational planning.

Izmir – Porto Route Completely Removed from the Schedule

The Izmir – Porto route, which was planned to start on June 24, 2026, was completely cancelled. Thus, another one of SunExpress’ newly announced international route projects for the summer season ended before being put into operation.
