SunExpress has decided to remove approximately 52,000 seats from sale on UK-origin flights to Türkiye. According to a report by Turizm Aktüel, the capacity reduction is concentrated mainly on the Dalaman, Bodrum, and Antalya routes. The timing of the decision, coinciding with a period of weakening demand in the UK market, is being viewed by the sector as a significant development.
The seat reduction is expected to affect the flow of British tourists traveling especially via Dalaman to South Aegean destinations, primarily Marmaris. Sector representatives emphasize that the decision, taken before the summer season, could put pressure on regional tourism revenues.
Demand Pressure Deepens in the UK Market
Signs of slowing demand have recently become increasingly visible in the UK market, one of Türkiye’s most important international tourism sources. Rising living costs, high inflation, and shrinking consumer spending are directly affecting British tourists’ travel plans.
Sources operating within the tourism sector state that booking activity, particularly for package holidays and charter flights, is progressing more cautiously compared to previous years.
