Statement from HTK-SEN on the Rights of Air Traffic Controllers

The Union of Air Traffic Controllers and Other Transport Workers (HTK-SEN) emphasized that the rights of air traffic controllers are directly related to the interests and benefits of our country.

Contribution to Tax Revenue

HTK-SEN highlighted that 35 out of every 100 liras given to air traffic controllers directly contribute to the Treasury as tax revenue. This situation shows that the salaries of air traffic controllers, whose costs are entirely covered by Eurocontrol, have a direct positive impact on the national economy. Therefore, improving the rights of controllers also means an increase in tax revenues.

Preventing Economic Loss and Foreign Airline Profits

HTK-SEN stated that the lack of improvements means profits for foreign airline companies that use our airspace, which translates into a loss for our country. The union emphasized that failing to improve the working conditions and personal rights of air traffic controllers increases the profits of foreign airlines while harming the economic interests of our country. Thus, the union’s demands are directly linked to the general interests of the nation.

For the Benefit and Interest of Our Country

HTK-SEN noted that improving the rights of air traffic controllers would enhance the welfare of the workers and contribute to the economic benefits of our country. Therefore, they express their demands as being “For the Benefit and Interest of Our Country.”
