Severe Turbulence on Singapore Airlines Flight: 1 Dead, 30 Injured

Singapore Airlines plane departing from London, the capital of England, encountered severe turbulence, resulting in one fatality and 30 injuries. The flight was redirected to Bangkok and landed at 15:45 local time (08:45 GMT). According to flight tracking data, the aircraft dropped 6,000 feet (2,000m) within a few minutes after crossing the Bay of Bengal.

According to a statement from Singapore Airlines, flight SQ 321 had a total of 211 passengers and 18 crew members on board. The airline expressed its deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and announced cooperation with Thai authorities to provide medical assistance, including sending a team for additional aid. Thai authorities dispatched ambulances and emergency teams to Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Singapore’s Transport Minister, Chee Hong Tat, stated that the government would provide assistance to passengers and their families. In a Facebook post, he expressed deep sadness over the incident on flight SQ321 from London to Singapore.

Details about the incident are still unclear. A passenger told Reuters news agency that the plane suddenly began to climb and shake. A 28-year-old student reported that after the incident, everyone not wearing seat belts was thrown to the ceiling, resulting in some injuries.
