Senegal Transair’s B737 veered off the runway during takeoff from Dakar

Senegal Transair’s Boeing 737-300, with 79 passengers and 6 crew members, was accelerating for takeoff from Dakar, Senegal, to Bamako, Mali, on flight R2-3043/HC-301. The crew aborted takeoff due to a hydraulic failure. The aircraft veered to the left and came to a stop on soft ground near the Presidential Palace at the airport, with a brief fire observed on the left wing. The aircraft sustained heavy damage.

All passengers were evacuated using slides, with reports of 10 passengers and one pilot sustaining minor injuries.

The Senegal Transport Minister stated that the HC-301 flight operated by Transair, while attempting to take off for Mali, veered off the runway, resulting in minor injuries to 10 passengers and one pilot.

The injured were taken to the hospital, while others were transported to a hotel.
