Boeing and United Airlines are reportedly among a number of sponsors that may have paid up to $1 million to fund the reality television show for Sean Duffy, the Transportation Secretary. The six-episode family road trip series was meant to showcase American travel, but instead shows how Duffy is using the Cabinet office to build his family media brand.

According to View From The Wing, Duffy’s family road trip series was funded by Boeing, Toyota, United Airlines, Shell, and Royal Caribbean, among other companies, before his department paid to produce it. This has raised questions about how Duffy is using his role to promote his son-in-law’s political campaign, as he runs for Congress.

Sponsors for Sean Duffy’s Great American Road Trip

The episode opens with a disclaimer that the production costs were paid by Great American Road Trip, Inc., and accepted as a gift by the department. The family has stressed that they received no financial compensation and no taxpayer dollars were invested in the production. This does raise questions about funding from major sponsors, which are heavily regulated and receive Department of Transportation contracts or are regularly lobbied by the department.

Boeing and Toyota have paid around $1 million each as a Platinum Partner as part of the services, with other major sponsors rumored to have provided up to five million. United, the show’s major airline partner, is alleged to have funded around $1 million toward the series. Simple Flying reached out to the airline for comment on the show but did not receive an immediate response from a spokesperson.

Since the show aired, the six episodes have achieved just a few thousand views combined, questioning the benefits of the show and whether it is about traveling the United States, or if it is simply a documentary on the Duffy family.

Reality Television Series About Sean Duffy Traveling The Country By Car

The Great American Road Trip is a reality television series that features the current Secretary and follows the family as they travel the country by car. The recording began in October 2025, and according to Duffy’s wife, Rachel Camos Duffy, they were prompted to film the series when Donald Trump encouraged his members of the cabinet to do something special for the upcoming United States semiquincentennial.

The series was set up as a nonprofit organization funded by major US companies. The series was released on YouTube on August 19, and in a recent appearance on NewsNation, Duffy’s secretary noted that the show needed additional editing to ensure it aligned with government ethics rules.

Upon release, the show drew a critical audience response, with The New York Times reporting it as an instance of celluloid self-branding toward individuals associated with Trump, and former Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg shared on social media that it was ‘out of touch’.

Duffy asserted that Boeing has yet to produce 38 737 MAXs per month, indicating that the FAA is not ready to lift the current production cap.

Despite having just two thousand followers on YouTube, the series has garnered only a few thousand views per video since launching two days ago. The real question is whether the views will continue to grow as more people tune into this controversial series.

Duffy’s actions come at a time when his allegiance to the current president is questioned, as is whether he plans to run for President in the next election. While Duffy would face tough odds against J.D. Vance and Marco Rubio, he seems more focused on building a political ‘infrastructure’ for his family and his son-in-law’s campaign for a congressional seat.
