Pegasus Airlines has updated its jet fuel emission factor in the carbon emission statistics (grCO2/RPK) to 3.16 for all reported periods. This new emission factor, which was implemented as of January 2024, has allowed for the update of monthly emission values from previous years.
Record Increase in Passenger Numbers
Pegasus announced its traffic results for May 2024. The company carried 3.16 million passengers in May 2024, marking a 21% increase compared to the same period last year. For the January-May 2024 period, the total number of passengers reached 14.15 million, a 25% increase.
Growth in Flights and Seat Capacity
The number of flights conducted in May 2024 rose to 17,485, showing a 9% increase compared to last year. In the same period, the number of seats offered increased by 13% to 3.62 million. For the first five months of the year, the total number of seats increased by 19% to 16.17 million.
Increased Load Factor
Pegasus’ load factor in May 2024 was 87.5%, a 5.5 point increase compared to the same period last year. The January-May 2024 average also stood at 87.5%, above last year’s 83.0%.
Increases in ASK and RPK Values
- Available Seat Kilometers (ASK): In May 2024, ASK was 5,732 million km, a 14% increase compared to last year. The total for January-May 2024 was 25,059 million km, a 21% increase.
- Revenue Passenger Kilometers (RPK): The CO2 emission value for May 2024 was measured at 57.9 grams/RPK. This value was 60.2 grams/RPK in January 2024, and 57.2 grams/RPK in February and March 2024.
Strong Performance in Domestic and International Routes
Domestic Routes:
- Passenger Numbers: 1.19 million in May 2024, a 24% increase compared to last year. The total for January-May 2024 was 5.50 million, a 26% increase.
- Load Factor: 90.6%, a 5.1 point increase compared to last year.
International Routes:
- Passenger Numbers: 1.98 million in May 2024, an 18% increase compared to last year. The total for January-May 2024 was 8.65 million, a 25% increase.
- Load Factor: 85.8%, a 5.6 point increase compared to last year.
