Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, announced that a total of 82,109,667 passengers were served on domestic and international flights at airports across Turkey in the first five months of 2024.
Minister Uraloğlu stated that by the end of May, a total of 20,230,573 passengers had traveled by air. This represents an increase of 11.1% in domestic flights and 14.4% in international flights.
Sharing information on the number of take-offs and landings, the Minister reported that there were 78,475 domestic and 77,751 international flights, with the total aircraft traffic, including overflights, reaching 200,666. He noted a 7.5% increase in total aircraft traffic in May 2024.
Minister Uraloğlu highlighted that in May, domestic passenger traffic at airports was 8,158,431, and international passenger traffic was 12,054,832, serving a total of 20,230,573 passengers.
Additionally, he announced that in May, there was a total freight traffic of 404,754 tons at the airports, with 69,126 tons on domestic flights and 335,629 tons on international flights.
Uraloğlu stated that Istanbul Airport handled 31,037,578 passengers, with an 8.4% increase in total aircraft traffic. He emphasized that passenger traffic served in May increased by 8%.
At Sabiha Gökçen Airport, Minister Uraloğlu noted that in May, a total of 3,440,903 passengers were served, with 1,686,976 on domestic flights and 1,753,927 on international flights, indicating a 10% increase in total aircraft traffic.
Finally, he added that over 16 million passengers were hosted at airports in tourist regions over the five-month period. He mentioned that İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport, Antalya Airport, Muğla Dalaman Airport, Muğla Milas-Bodrum Airport, and Gazipaşa Alanya Airport played significant roles during this period.
