According to data released by the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMİ), a total of 104.7 million passengers were served across Turkey’s airports in the first half of the year. Of these passengers, 55% chose flights from Istanbul’s domestic and international routes. Specifically, 57.9 million passengers traveled on 384,158 flights operated from Istanbul’s airports.
Increase in Flights at Sabiha Gökçen and Atatürk Airports
Sabiha Gökçen Airport hosted a total of 117,773 flights during this period, including 54,983 domestic and 62,790 international flights. Atatürk Airport handled 13,270 flights, with 7,945 being domestic and 5,325 international.
6% Increase in Flights from Istanbul
In the first half of this year, 384,158 flights were operated from Istanbul’s airports, including 120,711 domestic and 263,447 international flights. In the same period of 2023, 363,961 flights were operated from Istanbul’s airports, indicating an approximately 6% increase in the number of flights.
11% Increase Compared to Last Year
Istanbul Airport handled 38,092,629 passengers in the first half of the year, including 8,154,410 domestic and 29,938,219 international passengers. At Sabiha Gökçen Airport, 9,463,044 passengers traveled on domestic flights, while 10,359,842 traveled internationally, totaling 19,822,886 passengers.
Overall, 17,617,454 domestic and 40,298,061 international passengers traveled through Istanbul’s airports. The total number of passengers in the same period last year was 52,288,632. This year, there has been an 11% increase in passenger numbers at Istanbul airports.
