Istanbul Airport Becomes the Busiest Airport in Europe
Istanbul Airport, one of Turkey’s most important global air transportation hubs, has risen to the top in flight traffic across Europe.
According to the European Aviation Report published by the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL), Istanbul Airport recorded an average of 1,303 daily flights between February 23 and March 1, becoming the busiest airport in Europe.
Outperformed Its European Rivals
According to EUROCONTROL data, Istanbul Airport was followed by Europe’s leading airports.
The rest of the list is ranked as follows:
- Amsterdam Schiphol Airport – average of 1,261 daily flights
- London Heathrow Airport – average of 1,254 daily flights
- Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport – average of 1,215 daily flights
- Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport – average of 1,186 daily flights
