Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu Made Statements to CNN Türk About the Search Process for the Remains of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and His Companions
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu made statements to CNN Türk about the search process for the remains of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his companions. Uraloğlu said, “In the evening hours, when it was confirmed that the helicopter carrying Raisi had crashed, they requested aerial support from us. The Akıncı UAV was deployed and it identified the location,” he said.
It was announced that Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Abdollahian, and nine others died in the helicopter crash.
Highlights from Minister Uraloğlu’s statements are as follows:
“Marine vessels, land vehicles, and some individuals, particularly mountaineers, have emergency locator devices. These devices automatically send a signal to a satellite in an emergency, reaching centers in the designated region. Turkey is one of the regions where such emergency signals are collected. The incoming signals are received by our radars at Ankara Esenboğa and are reported to the relevant authorities.
Initially, we were asked if we had received such a signal. At first, there was no mention of the helicopter crash. We stated that we had not received any signal. Later, when it was mentioned that the helicopter had crashed, we again confirmed that we had not received any signal. In our discussions, we learned that the helicopter did not have this device. It might not have been acquired due to security concerns or sanctions.
In the evening hours, when it was confirmed that the helicopter carrying Raisi had crashed, they requested aerial support from us. The Akıncı UAV was deployed and it identified the location.”
