Zafer Yeşilgül, Chairman of the Air Taxi Operators Association (HATID), stated that the 48-hour notification requirement imposed by European countries on private jets departing from Turkey does not comply with international aviation standards and violates the principle of reciprocity.
Yeşilgül emphasized that this regulation, which significantly restricts the operational capabilities of domestic air taxi operators, is inconsistent with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). He pointed out that ICAO’s Annex 6 and Annex 9 documents include standards related to international flight operations and border crossing procedures. Yeşilgül criticized Europe’s 48-hour notification requirement for private jets departing from Turkey as unjust.
HATID Calls on SHGM: ‘Reciprocal Measures Should Be Taken!’
Yeşilgül urged the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (SHGM) to introduce a similar regulation in response to the 48-hour notification requirement imposed by European countries on private jets departing from Turkey. He stated, “SHGM should bring this issue to the international platform and increase diplomatic efforts to end this unfair practice by making representations to the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).”
HATID President Yeşilgül: ‘We Call on Authorities for Equality and Justice in International Aviation’
Expressing that the 48-hour notification requirement imposed by Europe on Turkish private jets is unacceptable and that they protest this situation, Yeşilgül said, “Our association demands that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation of Turkey implements reciprocal sanctions and calls on the authorities to ensure equality and justice in international aviation.”
Yeşilgül highlighted that private jets wanting to come from Europe to Turkey only need to apply three hours in advance, whereas the 48-hour notification requirement for planes departing from Turkey is unfair. He stated, “In accordance with international aviation rules, all countries should be treated equally and fairly, and Turkish civil aviation authorities need to urgently address this issue to protect the competitive structure of Turkish air taxi operators.”
