Pegasus CEO Güliz Öztürk has become the Chair of the Board of Directors of UN Global Compact Türkiye. Öztürk will lead efforts to accelerate sustainability and responsible leadership transformation in the business world.
Takes Over the Role from Ahmet Dördüncü
Güliz Öztürk, CEO of Pegasus Airlines, took over the role from Ahmet Dördüncü, who had served as Chair for the past two terms, at the 4th Ordinary General Assembly meeting held in Istanbul.
In the new term, under Öztürk’s leadership, it is aimed to accelerate sustainability-focused transformation in the business world and strengthen responsible business practices among companies.
“The World Needs Bold and Action-Oriented Business Leadership”
Following her election, Güliz Öztürk stated that the business world plays a critical role in building a sustainable future.
Öztürk said in her speech:
“The world now needs bold, trustworthy, and action-oriented business leadership. The decisions that the business world makes today will determine whether our world moves towards shared prosperity.”
Öztürk stated that in the new term, the work of UN Global Compact Türkiye will be carried out along three main axes:
- Increasing companies’ knowledge and implementation capacity in the field of sustainability
- Strengthening collective action and cooperation within the business world
- Making the business value created by sustainability more visible
A Strong Approach to Gender Equality
Güliz Öztürk, Türkiye’s first female airline CEO, has also drawn attention with her work on gender equality in the aviation sector.
Öztürk:
Serves as Co-Chair of the Women in Sales Network platform
Is a member of the Advisory Board of Özyeğin University’s Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics
She also supports hundreds of young women in accessing education and career opportunities through projects such as the “Towards the Future Every Step Scholarship Fund,” carried out by Pegasus in cooperation with the Turkish Education Foundation.
