Pegasus Airlines CEO Güliz Öztürk announced at a press conference that the airline carried 32 million passengers between January and September 2024, achieving 14% growth for the year overall.
Load Factor Reached 89% in the Third Quarter
Evaluating Pegasus’ 2024 performance, Güliz Öztürk said:
“In the January–September 2024 period, we carried a total of 32 million passengers. During this period, we achieved 14% growth, with an overall load factor of 84% and a third-quarter load factor of 89%.”
Öztürk emphasised that Pegasus demonstrated strong performance both on domestic and international routes by enhancing its operational efficiency.
The World’s 2nd Youngest Fleet
As of 2024, Pegasus Airlines operates a fleet of 127 aircraft with an average fleet age of 4.9 years, making it the second youngest fleet in the world.
The company announced that eight new aircraft will join the fleet by 2026, bringing the total number to 135.
Öztürk stated, “With our new-generation aircraft, we are improving operational efficiency while significantly reducing fuel consumption and carbon emissions.”
$150 Million Investment in Two Hangars
In line with its sustainable growth vision, Pegasus continues the construction of two large hangars at Sabiha Gökçen Airport.
With a total investment cost of $150 million, the hangars are planned to become operational gradually in mid- and late-2026.
Through this investment, Pegasus aims to reduce its dependence on external maintenance services and minimise aircraft ground time.
One hangar will cover 40,000 square metres and the other 20,000 square metres. Once operating at full capacity, the hangars will also generate significant employment opportunities.
It was reported that 300 new jobs were created in 2024 through hangar operations alone.
It was also announced that the first hangar will be visible from departing aircraft starting from February.
A New Era in Technology and Sustainability
Touching on Pegasus’ technology and innovation investments, Güliz Öztürk stated that with the establishment of the Pegasus Innovation Centre in Silicon Valley in December 2024, the airline will focus on new projects in artificial intelligence and digital transformation.
Highlighting that the aviation industry accounts for 2.6% of global carbon emissions, Öztürk said the company aims to reduce its emission levels by 20% by 2030.
Increasing Representation of Women in Aviation
Pegasus continues to be one of the industry leaders in promoting gender equality.
Through the company’s support programme for female university students, 1,000 students have so far received scholarships, mentoring, and training opportunities.
Güliz Öztürk said, “Women’s representation in aviation must increase. As Pegasus, we are determined to be a role model in this area.”
