Emirates, one of the world’s largest airlines, has announced that it will resume flights to Nigeria starting October 1, 2024. The airline will operate daily flights between Lagos, Nigeria’s largest city, and Dubai, offering passengers more options and connectivity.
The Emirates flight EK783 to Lagos, operated by a Boeing 777-300ER, will depart from Dubai at 09:45 and arrive in Lagos at 15:20. The return flight, EK784, will depart Lagos at 17:30 and arrive in Dubai the next day at 05:10.
Tickets for the Lagos flights starting on October 1 are available for purchase on emirates.com or through travel agencies.
Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Chief Commercial Officer, made the following statement: “We are excited to resume our services to Nigeria. The Lagos-Dubai route is very popular among travelers in Nigeria, both for leisure and business. We look forward to reconnecting our passengers from Nigeria to Dubai and our network of over 140 destinations. We appreciate the support of the Nigerian government in facilitating the resumption of this route. We eagerly anticipate welcoming our passengers back on board.”
With the resumption of flights to Nigeria, Emirates will operate 157 weekly flights to 19 destinations across Africa. Additionally, through codeshare and interline agreements with airlines such as South African Airways, Airlink, Royal Air Maroc, and Tunis Air, Emirates will offer connections to over 130 regional travel points in Africa.
Nigeria, a major economic hub in Africa, has established strong bilateral trade relations with the UAE over the years, with Lagos serving as the country’s commercial center. With the resumption of daily passenger flights, Emirates SkyCargo, the airline’s cargo division, will offer a capacity of over 300 tons of cargo per week to Lagos, further strengthening commercial ties.
Emirates SkyCargo will support Nigerian businesses by facilitating the export of their products to key markets such as the UAE, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Bahrain through its state-of-the-art hub in Dubai. Key export products include kola nuts, food and beverages, and urgent courier items. Additionally, Emirates SkyCargo will import essential goods such as pharmaceuticals and electronics from major markets including the UAE, India, and Hong Kong. These goods will be transported quickly, efficiently, and reliably through the airline’s extensive specialized product portfolio, ensuring smooth trade operations.
The Emirates Boeing 777-300ER serving Lagos will feature 8 First Class suites, 42 Business Class, and 304 Economy Class seats. Passengers are invited to enjoy the best in-flight experience with a diverse menu inspired by regional flavors prepared by award-winning chefs, along with a wide selection of premium beverages. Travelers will have access to over 6,500 global entertainment channels, including 23 Nigerian films, series, and other content through Emirates’ award-winning in-flight entertainment system, ice.
