AJet has launched direct flights on the Ankara–Bucharest route. Kerem Sarp announced that they aim to increase their competitiveness in Europe and expand their international network.

AJet, the airline operating the highest number of international flights from Ankara, has established an air bridge with another world capital. The AJet aircraft, which operated its first flight to Bucharest, the capital of Romania, on 2 April 2026, was welcomed with a traditional water salute.
The ceremony held at Bucharest’s Henri Coandă International Airport was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Bucharest, Özgür Kıvanç Altan, AJet CEO Kerem Sarp, Ankara Chamber of Commerce President Gürsel Baran, as well as senior management from AJet and the airport.
Kerem Sarp: We operate direct flights from Ankara to 37 cities abroad
Speaking at the ceremony, AJet CEO Kerem Sarp stated that they currently operate direct flights from Ankara to 37 cities in 28 countries and aim to increase this number to 50 cities in 34 countries in the near future. Sarp said, “We are establishing new air bridges between our capital Ankara and world capitals. Increasing our capital’s international connectivity contributes significantly not only to regional development but also to commercial and diplomatic relations.”

Noting that AJet has completed two years since its first flight on 31 March 2024, Kerem Sarp said, “With the strength we receive from our flag carrier Turkish Airlines, we aim to become Türkiye’s second-largest airline and to increase our competitiveness in Europe.”
Özgür Kıvanç Altan: 1 million tourists from Romania visit Türkiye every year
Ambassador Özgür Kıvanç Altan, in his speech at the ceremony, stated that AJet made a well-timed decision with its new route and emphasized the extensive cooperation between the two countries in various fields. Highlighting that the first flight was fully booked, Altan said, “More than 1 million Romanian brothers and sisters visit our beautiful country every year. I also encourage our citizens to visit Romania.”
AJet’s Ankara Strategy
Türkiye’s youngest airline, AJet, sees international expansion from Ankara as a strategic priority. Operating the highest number of domestic and international flights from Ankara, AJet is building air bridges between the capital and world capitals.
AJet is running a visionary project called “Ankara+ (Plus)” together with Turkish Airlines. Within the scope of the project, tourists arriving in Ankara by air are offered the opportunity to spend two days in the city and then visit at least one or two of 15 nearby cities by land to experience their historical and natural attractions. With this project, Ankara is positioned as a tourism destination together with Central Anatolia and surrounding provinces. The initiative aims to create an ecosystem ensuring that all cities in the region benefit from tourism.
