A major panic broke out in the United States early this morning. United Airlines flight 512, travelling from Houston to Washington, made an emergency landing at Ronald Reagan Airport near the nation’s capital following a bomb threat.
Aircraft Moved to Secure Area, Passengers Evacuated
According to a statement from airport authorities, the aircraft was safely landed, directed to a remote runway away from the terminal, and passengers were swiftly evacuated. At the time of the incident, there were 89 passengers and 6 crew members on board.
After the evacuation, security teams established a wide safety perimeter around the aircraft. The FAA implemented a short-term “ground stop” order due to the incident.
FBI: No Threat Found
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced that no explosives or security threats were detected during the detailed inspection conducted after the evacuation.
Officials stated that it has not yet been determined who or what source made the bomb threat. Following safety checks, runways were reopened for flights approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes later.
Local Election Day Detail: Similar Threats Reported
The incident coincided with local election day in the United States. Authorities confirmed that similar bomb threats in certain parts of New Jersey temporarily halted the voting process.
