Turkish Airlines’ TC-JIT registered Airbus A330-200, operating the Istanbul to Manchester flight, made an emergency landing in Manchester after the pilots detected a burning smell in the cabin during descent. An emergency was declared due to a hydraulic malfunction on the aircraft.
Following the emergency landing, ARFF (Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting) teams followed the aircraft. Smoke was observed as the aircraft taxied off the runway onto the taxiway. As a safety precaution, the pilots shut down the engines, and the aircraft was towed to a parking position using a pushback vehicle.
After the passengers were safely disembarked, the aircraft underwent maintenance, and the return flight was canceled. Airport authorities stated that the hydraulic malfunction on the aircraft did not result in any adverse consequences.
