A 26-year-old flight attendant from Air India Express, Surabhi Khatun, has been arrested for gold smuggling on a flight from Muscat. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) detained Khatun after discovering 960 grams of gold concealed in compound form in her rectum.
Investigation Expands
The DRI is expanding the investigation, suspecting that other cabin crew members might also be involved in the crime. Following Khatun’s arrest, other flight attendants are being questioned as the probe continues.
This incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by authorities in combating gold smuggling, particularly within the aviation industry, where personnel may exploit their positions to bypass security checks.
