Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, evaluated Turkey’s air traffic performance based on Eurocontrol’s air traffic statistics for the period of June 17-23. Here are the details:

Turkey Among Europe’s Busiest Air Traffic Countries

According to Uraloğlu, Eurocontrol’s report places Turkey 6th among the countries with the busiest air traffic in Europe, with a daily average of 3,894 flights.

Istanbul Airport: Europe’s Busiest Airport

Uraloğlu highlighted that Istanbul Airport, with a daily average of 1,520 flights, is the busiest airport in Europe and ranks 7th globally.

Performance of Other Airports

  • Antalya Airport: Ranked 8th with a daily average of 992 flights.
  • Growth Compared to 2019: Istanbul Airport and Antalya Airport saw respective increases of 21% and 12% in daily average flights compared to 2019.

Efficiency of Turkish Airspace

Uraloğlu noted that Turkish airspace is one of the most efficient in Europe, with a delay time of less than 0.5 minutes per flight.

Contribution of Investments

He emphasized that due to recent investments, Turkey has become a significant player internationally, significantly reducing distances in this field.
