Three Members of Parliament who took part in the Freedom Flotilla carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza and were detained by Israel have returned home. They were warmly welcomed at Istanbul Airport.
Hatay MP Necmettin Çalışkan, Denizli MP Sema Silkin Ün, and Bursa MP Mehmet Atmaca, who joined the Freedom Flotilla aiming to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza and were detained by Israel for a period, have returned to Türkiye.
The MPs departed from Israel’s capital Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport at noon on an Azerbaijan Airlines flight to Baku. They then continued their journey on another Azerbaijan Airlines flight from Baku, landing at Istanbul Airport at 22:20.
The three MPs were greeted at the airport’s VIP lounge by their families, Saadet Party Chairman Mahmut Arıkan, DEVA Party Chairman Ali Babacan, AK Party Istanbul MP and Chair of the Turkish–Palestinian Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group Hasan Turan, New Path Party Group Chair Bülent Kaya, party members, and many citizens.
The MPs, who were met with great enthusiasm, expressed their happiness at returning to Türkiye and stated that they would continue to draw attention to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
