A Ukrainian Yak-52 training aircraft collided mid-air with a Russian ZALA Z-16 reconnaissance drone. The incident, which occurred on 16 October, reportedly caused the drone to crash to the ground while the aircraft lost its manoeuvrability.
Tensions between Russia and Ukraine have flared up once again following a new incident in the skies. A Yak-52 aircraft belonging to the Ukrainian Air Force collided mid-air with a Russian-made ZALA Z-16 reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) on 16 October at around midday.
According to eyewitnesses, the UAV struck the aircraft’s wing before crashing to the ground, causing the Yak-52 to lose stability. No official statement has been released regarding whether the aircraft managed to land safely after the incident.

Despite US President Donald Trump’s remarks about “ending the war,” clashes and airspace tensions between the two countries persist. Following the incident, neither Ukraine nor Russia made any official statements, and no information was shared about possible injuries or casualties.
