It has been revealed that the UK has sent more than 80 military transport aircraft to Beirut, Lebanon, since the Zionist regime’s operations in Gaza began. According to a report by the investigative journalism portal Declassified UK, these flights were conducted from the Akrotiri airbase in Southern Cyprus.
The UK Ministry of Defence has refrained from disclosing the number and purposes of these military flights, which have been ongoing since October 7. Research by the portal indicates a dramatic increase in the number of flights to Beirut in recent months, with 25 flights in April and May, and 14 flights so far in June.
These flights are seen as strategic preparations in scenarios where Israel might target Beirut in a potential large-scale war against Hezbollah. Sources suggest that the flights aim to strengthen cooperation with the Lebanese army, while some circles allege that these flights are being used to arm anti-Hezbollah militias.
The Royal Air Force typically uses Voyager KC mark 2 transport aircraft for these flights. The Voyager KC mark 2 can carry 45 tons of cargo and is capable of air-to-air refueling. Additionally, large C-17 cargo aircraft have also been employed in some operations.
