Turkish Airlines’ subsidiary Anadolujet’s transformation into Ajet, separate from THY, has brought privatization plans to the forefront. In July 2023, AnadoluJet became a completely separate company by separating from Turkish Airlines. During this separation process, the company’s name was changed to “AJet Hava Taşımacılığı Anonim Şirketi,” and it continued its operations under this name.
After being established with a capital of 450 million TL, Ajet’s capital was increased to 721 million 751 thousand TL on December 28, 2023. As of March 2024, AnadoluJet started its operations solely as “AJet Hava Taşımacılığı Anonim Şirketi.” During this process, personnel and technical staff from Anadolujet were transferred from THY to Ajet. Additionally, 95 aircraft from Turkish Airlines were transferred to Ajet. Ajet now has the capacity to operate flights to a total of 93 destinations, including 41 domestic and 52 international destinations.
However, it is claimed that the privatization plans are behind Ajet’s transformation. It is noted that Gulf Arab countries have also shown interest in the company during this process. However, there is no officially announced sales or partnership plan yet.
Different scenarios regarding Ajet are also on the agenda. These scenarios include partial sale of shares or relaxation of partnership conditions through changes in regulations. However, it is not yet clear which scenario will be implemented or whether Ajet will be sold to a Turkey-based company or a foreign company.
