Turkish Airlines’ (THY) Q3 2025 financial report shows that the upward trend in the company’s expenditures in recent years continued during this period. According to the report, the airline’s advertising and promotional expenses reached 4.485 billion TL during January–September 2025. Total payments to senior management also saw a significant increase, rising from 348 million TL in the same period of the previous year to 506 million TL.
Advertising and Promotional Expenses Approached 4.5 Billion TL
THY’s financial statements indicated that the resources allocated to advertising and promotional activities continued to increase compared to previous years. Payments for external consultancy and advisory services in the first quarter of 2025 alone amounted to 887 million TL.
According to data reported by BirGün, THY’s advertising expenses for January–September 2025 were officially recorded at 4.485 billion TL. This increase once again confirmed the company’s accelerated promotional budget trend that began after 2018.
Yearly Increase in Advertising Budget
The changes in THY’s advertising and promotional expenses over the years are as follows:
- 2020: 561 million TL
- 2021: 696 million TL
- 2022: 1.847 billion TL
- 2023: 4.694 billion TL
- 2024: 7.140 billion TL
- 2025 (January–September): 4.485 billion TL
Significant Rise in Executive Payments
The 2025 financial report also highlighted the increase in payments to the management team. Total payments made to THY’s board members, general manager, and deputy general managers rose from 348 million TL in January–September 2024 to 506 million TL in the same period of 2025.
Changes in Management
During the Ordinary General Assembly Meeting held on May 21, 2025, significant changes were made to THY’s board of directors.
Former DGCA General Manager Hüseyin Keskin and Fatmanur Altun resigned.
They were replaced by Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Özgül Özkan Yavuz and businessperson Gülden Nacar.
Former AKP Youth Branch Chairman Melih Şükrü Ecertaş continued his role on the board.
