The Turkish Airlines aircraft arriving from the United States to Türkiye made an emergency landing at Shannon Airport in Ireland after a passenger experienced a health issue.
Emergency on Board During the Flight
Turkish Airlines’ TK-4 scheduled Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft experienced an emergency situation during its flight from New York JFK Airport to Istanbul.
Following the illness of a passenger on board, the crew decided to change the flight route.
Redirected to Shannon
While the aircraft was en route over western Ireland, contact was made with air traffic control. Although an initial plan was made to divert to Dublin Airport, the decision was later made to land at Shannon Airport.
Authorities activated all emergency response teams prior to the unscheduled landing.
Ambulance Teams Were on Standby
The aircraft landed safely at Shannon Airport at 23:12 local time. Medical teams standing by on the runway provided first aid to the passenger at the airport.
The ill passenger was then transferred to a hospital for further treatment.
Flight Resumed Shortly After
The aircraft, carrying 282 passengers and crew, resumed its journey to Istanbul around 01:00 after all necessary procedures were completed.
