Damascus International Airport, located in the Syrian capital Damascus, is set to reopen to international flights as of January 7. Eshed Salibi, Chairman of the Civil Aviation and Air Transport Authority, announced that the airport is preparing to resume operations, according to the official Syrian news agency, SANA.
Salibi noted that efforts are ongoing to restart operations at Aleppo and Damascus airports. “With the support of our partners, we are ensuring that these airports are capable of handling flights from all around the world,” he said.
First Passenger Plane Lands in Aleppo
Following its reactivation after the fall of the Baath regime, Damascus International Airport saw its first passenger plane land at Aleppo Airport on December 18.

With the completion of modernization work at Damascus and Aleppo airports, Syria is expected to regain a strong position in the international aviation arena.
