A Delta Airlines flight was forced to make an emergency landing due to spoiled food served on board. After taking off from Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport en route to the Netherlands on Wednesday, flight 136 from Detroit to Amsterdam was diverted to New York JFK Airport.
A Delta Airlines spokesperson stated, “We diverted the flight after receiving reports of spoilage in the main cabin meal service.” It remains unclear how many of the 277 passengers on board consumed the spoiled food.
According to a statement from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, there were 24 assistance cases during the emergency landing, all of which refused medical help. Passengers were provided with hotel accommodations and transportation, and were rebooked to their destinations.
