Ukrainian airline SkyUp Airlines has secured its global market credibility in safety and operational standards through membership in the International Air Transport Association (IATA), taking a strategic step for growth and international collaborations.
IATA Membership: Confirmation of International Standards
SkyUp Airlines has been officially accepted into IATA, the global industry association representing approximately 350 airlines.
The membership is regarded as a milestone confirming the airline’s compliance with international operational and safety standards.
The company had successfully completed the IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) registration in 2023, fulfilling a key requirement for membership. This process ensured that SkyUp’s competence in operational safety and quality management was recognised on a global scale.

Operational Growth Under Challenging Conditions
Following the suspension of civil flights in Ukraine, SkyUp Airlines maintained its presence through overseas ACMI operations. This process involves leasing aircraft, crew, maintenance, and insurance to other airlines.
In 2023, SkyUp MT, established in Malta, obtained an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) in the European Union, strengthening its operational network. These steps aim to generate revenue, preserve employment, and consolidate international aviation expertise.
Successful IOSA registration and low SAFA scores demonstrate the airline’s ability to maintain safety and quality standards even under complex conditions.
Strategic Investment for the Future
SkyUp Airlines has begun using its fleet for new scheduled flights in Europe. From 2025, flights from Chișinău (Moldova) to Paris (Beauvais), Lisbon, Barcelona, Alicante, Palma de Mallorca, Cyprus, and Greece have been launched.
IATA membership not only enhances SkyUp’s credibility in international markets but also lays a solid foundation for its return to Ukrainian airspace. CEO Sieroukhov views this membership as both confirmation of current operational performance and a strategic step for the future reconstruction of national aviation.
