ITA Airways has confirmed the death of 57-year-old Gabriella Cario, a mother of three and an off-duty flight attendant, who passed away during a flight to Rome. The tragic event occurred on flight 1156, which departed from Reggio Calabria Airport, leaving passengers and crew deeply saddened.
Gabriella Cario reportedly felt unwell before boarding the flight, and shortly after takeoff, her condition worsened. Despite the immediate arrival of medical personnel and all efforts to save her, Cario could not be revived.
ITA Airways expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss and assured that full support would be provided to her family. The flight was delayed, and all passengers were deplaned. The exact cause of death is still unknown.
Alberto Mosca, mayor of Cario’s hometown Sabaudia, paid tribute, stating, “Gabriella was a bright and kind woman, beloved by all. We extend our deepest condolences to her husband and children.”
