Security Scandal at Qatar Airways During Crypto Event

Concerns have arisen over security violations during a crypto-themed event on a Qatar Airways flight. The 10-hour flight from Dubai to Singapore hosted the “first Web3 sky event,” organized by a startup named Redacted, where participants were seen disregarding safety protocols, including seatbelt and smoking rules.

Videos surfaced showing passengers singing and dancing while seatbelt signs were on. According to Qatar Airways’ safety protocols, passengers are required to remain seated and keep their seatbelts fastened when the seatbelt signs are illuminated, a critical rule to prevent injuries during potential turbulence. The importance of such regulations is underscored by incidents like the turbulence on a Singapore Airlines flight, which resulted in fatalities and injuries.

There were also claims that passengers smoked during the event, further escalating safety concerns. The event’s organizer, Kumar, expressed that “this should be the first and last Web3 flight,” hoping the incident remains a one-time experience. The crew’s response to these violations remains unclear. (protos)
