Seagull strike on THY’s Mardin–Istanbul flight: Aircraft landed safely
A Turkish Airlines (THY) Boeing 737 passenger aircraft, registered TC-JYC, safely landed in Istanbul despite a seagull strike during its flight from Mardin.
Flight TK2679, carrying passengers from Prof. Dr Aziz Sancar Airport to Istanbul Airport, struck a seagull during approach. Initial reports indicated that the bird became lodged in the aircraft’s wing.
According to Aviation News HSM, the aircraft completed its landing without issue, and no technical malfunction or safety concern for passengers was reported.
While no official statement has yet been released by Turkish Airlines, experts note that such “bird strike” incidents, though relatively rare, generally do not pose a threat to flight safety.
