Sabiha Gökçen Expands Its Spain Network with Alicante: Pegasus Launches Four Weekly Direct Flights

Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport has expanded its flight network in Spain to a fifth destination with Pegasus Airlines’ Alicante services. The four weekly direct flights will provide new momentum for tourism, trade, and connecting passenger traffic between Türkiye and Spain.

Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (ISG) International Airport continues to expand its European destination network. Pegasus Airlines has launched direct flights four times a week between Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen and Alicante, one of the most important tourism destinations on Spain’s Mediterranean coast. Thanks to the new route, passengers will be able to reach the Costa Blanca region nonstop in approximately 4 hours and 10 minutes.

Alicante Becomes Sabiha Gökçen’s Fifth Destination in Spain

With the launch of Pegasus Airlines’ Alicante services, Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport has further expanded its flight network in Spain.

The four weekly direct flights will increase air travel alternatives between Türkiye and Spain while also contributing to the development of tourism and trade relations.

The new route stands out by providing direct access to Costa Blanca, one of the Mediterranean’s most important tourism regions.

Alicante Route Officially Inaugurated with a Special Ceremony

A special inauguration ceremony was held at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport to mark the launch of the new route.

The ceremony was attended by Kerem Maybek, Deputy General Manager of Commercial Affairs and Strategy at Sabiha Gökçen Airport; Ali Mehmet Uyar, Operations Director; Emre Pekesen, Sales Director of Pegasus Airlines; Burcu Alın Ardalı, Sales Manager; Eren Lea Karslı, Türkiye Representative of the Spain Tourism Office; and M. Gizem Meral, Türkiye Representative of the Trade Office.

Officials emphasized that the new route will make significant contributions to strengthening tourism, trade, and cultural relations between the two countries.

Alicante-Themed Welcome at the Terminal

As part of the route launch, a special event reflecting the Alicante and Spain concept was held at the terminal.

Passengers were presented with Alicante-themed souvenirs and cooling hand fans, while the specially created atmosphere in the terminal added color to the promotion of the new destination. The opening event attracted significant interest from passengers.

The Gateway to Costa Blanca Is Now Closer to Istanbul

Located in southeastern Spain, Alicante is among Europe’s most popular holiday destinations thanks to its year-round sunny climate, long beaches, and rich historical heritage.

With a population of approximately 340,000, the city serves nearly 750,000 people together with the surrounding settlements and stands out for its strong tourism economy.

Located approximately 10 kilometers outside the city, Alicante–Elche Miguel Hernández Airport provides convenient access to Benidorm, Torrevieja, Elche, and many tourism centers along the Costa Blanca coastline.
